ABOUT SAVED ROUNDS

“Saved Rounds” – A military term referring to left-over ammunition, or simply unfinished business.

Synopsis

Drawn from the writer Doc Farrow’s experiences as a US Navy combat Corpsman in Iraq, SAVED ROUNDS looks at the devastating pain of loss, survivor’s guilt, the redeeming qualities of love and honor, and the fragile glimmer of hope in those whose lives are forever changed by war.

Saved Rounds follows former Navy Corpsman “Doc” who hasn’t forgiven himself for not being able to save his Marines. Having been discharged from the Military for some time, living with his immense survivor’s guilt, he is now an active alcoholic who has even attempted to end it all.

Then he is visited by Rod, one of his fallen Marines who cannot pass to the afterlife until Doc honors the commitment he made to Rod on his deathbed — to deliver a message and gift to his family.

Saved Rounds begins as Doc takes the steps toward fulfilling this promise. As he embarks on this journey with the only woman who’s ever understood him, Doc faces his deepest fears, most challenging obstacles and freedom for them all to find peace.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT – John Finn

Doc Farrow and Deborah Leonhart had the instinctive grace and courage to entrust me and our assembled team with their ideas and passion to bring this vital and complex story to life.

Their fearlessness inspired and elevated our creative contributions to Saved Rounds. Each step of problem solving, whether technical or emotional, was informed and blessed by their confidence and vision.

As a fellow veteran, I was drawn to the rare presentation of the struggle and transformational journey of “Doc” the character, a Corpsman who always stands by his brother and sister Marines.

And as a fellow artist, I was equally honored and grateful to have shared in the vision of Doc the Producer and Actor, to shine a light on these unsung heroes.

PRODUCER’S STATEMENT – Doc Farrow

As a former U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman, often referred to as “Doc,” I stand shoulder to shoulder with my Marines as we support, grow with, bleed with and die for one another. In the chaos of battle, character matters.

With our specific mandate of protecting and healing, we share a unique brand of survivors’ guilt that comes when a Marine under our care becomes a casualty. With Saved Rounds, I bring one of these stories to light.

This story is mine. It is the story I have carried every day since my second tour in Iraq, but this burden is not mine alone. Twenty-two veterans a day are lost to suicide.

Saved Rounds shines light on the resilience of the human spirit. Although we can’t change the past, every chance that we get to bring a piece of our brothers and sisters back from that darkness, is a chance to forgive ourselves.
